The road to the summit is paved but pretty narrow and steep. The summit is crowned with numerous communications towers. The access to the summit, also known as Hansekop, can be closed with a gate. The summit provides 360-degree vistas of the greater Cape Town area and the Overberg region. Starting from Grabouw, at 360m above the sea level, the ascent is 11.3 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 799 meters. The average gradient is 7.07%, hitting a grueling 27% through some of the ramps. This road can get very slippery after rain.
